1 Rita Nabors
Rita Nabors: Rita Nabors has always had an interest in art, beginning with a high school painting class. For many years, a career as a graphic artist was enough to satisfy that interest, but when her career ended, she began to think again about painting. Rita has taken workshops with Roger Bansemer, who hosts the PBS show "Painting and Travel with Roger and Sarah Bansemer." Other than those workshops, she is self-taught, relying on self-study, practice and observation. She has exhibited in solo and group shows including Morristown Art Association shows, Virginia Highlands Juried Art Show (honorable mention); Rogersville Heritage Days Festival Art Show (first place and best in show); Hale Springs Inn; Autumn With Topsail, Topsail Island, NC (second place); the Arts Depot, Abingdon, VA; and the 2016 Women Painters of the Southeast Juried Art Show. She was born in Tazewell, Virginia and has lived in Northern Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, but feels she came "home" when she moved to Tennessee 35 years ago. The mountains and rural scenes of the area provide inspiration for the realistic landscapes that are her favorite subject.
