Jeoff Bodenhorst
January 13 - March 1

Jeoff Bodenhorst is a local manufacturer and resides in the Abingdon area. His oil paintings of very everyday subjects such as chickens, cows, or moose are charged with energy which bring out the emotions of the onlooker, through rich color, texture, and larger than life wildness. His detail is in the texture which is brought out by much use of a pallet knife.



Ken Simmelink
March 2 - April 19

Ken Simmelink has been doing pencil sketches most of his life. Growing up on a farm in Wisconsin gave him a special love for animals which are his favorite subjects. Although he took a several art courses in college, he didn't get serious about painting until his retirement from a career in missionary aviation. His media is primarily oils and pastels.



Landon Woody - A Retrospective

Russell County native but Abingdon icon, Landon Woody passed away in August 2007. He was owner of Woody's Goody's, Abingdon's art supply and collectible shop and was a founding member of the "Wednesday Morning Painters Group". Woody was a self-taught painter learning from his peers and by attending workshops. The Depot proudly presents a collection of his watercolor painting in celebration of his life.



Joan Hoffman
June 8 - July 18

Joan Hoffman has spent much of her life as an educator and as an active participant in local and regional arts organizations having received several awards for her work. She believes that “art matters”. Through line and color applied to paper and canvas she searches for ways to convey thought and emotion.

Bill Deel & Sheri Chaffin

Bill Deel & Sheri Chaffin are siblings who share a love of the brush. Bill, a Clintwood, Va. resident, has been involved in art all his life and has received many awards for his depictions of nature in oil, acrylics, and watercolor. Sheri, a retired math teacher and Abingdon resident, began her love affair with art later in life. In recent years she has studied with nationally renowned artists. Her watercolors capture European scenes and buildings of Abingdon.



Bill Brinkley & Carl Jessee
September 28 - November 15

Reception Sunday, September 28, 2 - 4 pm

Carl B. Jessee is a self-taught artist who honed his talents on the family farm in Honaker, VA. After settling in Bristol, he put his creative art and design skills to good use as owner/operator of the Bristol Sign Company. Carl's work includes watercolors, acrylics and wood carvings. Bill Brinkley studied at the Art Center in Los Angeles, but spent the next 40 years in New York, L.A. and Houston as a writer/producer of national advertising. Retiring to his Bristol home, Bill resumed his interest in art, creating "Images of Appalachia" in pencil and acrylics.
