Aaron & Beth Hill

Bristol, TN artist couple, Aaron and Beth Hill present their works in oil. Beth works with flowers, fruit and vegetables in vivid color with a look inspired by her love for detail. Aaron uses a wide range of subjects in imaginative compositions to create works with interesting techniques and style.

In Memory of George Chavatel

Abingdon's late and beloved George Chavatel's work will be presented along with nine area artists from Chavatel's most recent "Critique Classes". The exhibiting artists studied Design Orientation and Art History with Chavatel. They will present their new and innovative pieces of art which he always encouraged them to do.

Richard Houser
April 22 - June 9

Reception Sunday, April 22, 2 - 4 pm

Abingdon's Richard Houser describes his work as "Amerimobilia" - a mixture of American and Memorabilia. "I paint nostalgia into all of my paintings, mostly things that are no longer recognizable by the public...and simple things that are recognized universally. Houser works in Pencil, Acrylic, Tempera Resist, Mixed Media and Silk Screen.

Sharon Strite
June 10 - July 20

Reception Sunday, June 10, 2 - 4 pm

Harrisonburg, VA artist, Sharon Strite presents works in collage, watercolor, acrylic, and oil. She enjoys "the dynamics and excitement created by the layering of color in both painting and collage." Sharon finds inspiration from her recent travels to Romania and New Zealand. She is a Signature Member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and the 2006 winner of the Society's Depot Artists Association Award.

Gari D. Stephenson

Reception Sunday, August 26, 2 - 4 pm

Roanoke, VA artist, Gari Stephenson will exhibit works on paper & canvas. She is a figure painter but experiments with other subjects. The surface of the paper is "as important in her work as the subject." Gari likes texture and uses a limited palette concentrating on "lights and darks." She is a Signature Member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and received "Best in Show" awards in 2003 and 2005.

Ellen Elmes
September 30 - November 10

Reception Sunday, September 30, 2 - 4 pm

Jewell Ridge, VA artist, Ellen Elmes' show, "Yes-s-s-s!... An Affirmation of life" will feature watercolors and Prismacolor pencil drawings. They focus on "fleeting moments of insight, glimpses of natural wonder, relationships between unrelated things...and colors that demand gleeful responses". She is assistant professor of art at Southwest VA Community College.
