My early years were spent in a rich cultural environment reflecting interest in visual and performing arts. My art education consisted of private art lessons, in addition to the regular school curriculum. I continued my education majoring in history and art at the College of New Rochelle, New York. After a 20-year career as an elementary teacher in New York and Virginia, I resigned working fulltime in that field to resume a career as a full time artist. Since 1981 I have participated in area invitational and juried exhibitions and have had three one-woman exhibits, receiving several awards. I retain memberships in the Bristol Art Guild, Kingsport Art Guild, Depot Artists Association, and the William King Regional Arts Center. I have portrayed the environment and persons who have impacted my life. My style is impressionistic and stylized when incorporating symbolic elements. My intention is to convey a sense of immediacy and emotional impact. |
