Walter Wright: Walter says he “loved to draw since early childhood” and “became notably good at an early age.” For him, the challenge of creating something new, different, and unique continually fuels his passion for art. He was born in Winston-Salem, NC but lived most of his youth in Kernersville, NC moving back to Winston-Salem during his late teen years. Walter relocated to Garden City Beach in South Carolina in his forties, after six and a half years, Walter moved to his current location in Hamptonville, NC where he has lived for 11 years. He is retired and now spends most of his time creating art. He “likes to paint what a photograph can’t capture, only then will you be more than a glorified camera…I feel there is more to being an artist than to mimic what already exist, or what a photograph can instantly provide. “ Walter’s says his favorite subject would be “nature itself but always with a slight twist.” He enjoys myths and legends and often applies them to his paintings.” Walter is a member of several art organizations and had participated in numerous solo and group exhibits receiving several top honors and Best in Show awards. He says this exhibit at the Arts Depot is “an exciting opportunity for me to show the public my unique surrealist style.” He has selected what he thinks people will” truly enjoy viewing.
