Abstract Floral paintings
Growing up on the backwaters of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland inspired Teresa Tilley’s “love for the ocean and all of its treasures” she says, “both grandmothers and my dear Aunt Mollie passed down a love of flowers and gardening which has been my inspiration for painting abstract florals and whimsical animals.” Her art career began with hand colored and black and white photography which led her to switch gears into present day with a love for painting in watercolors and acrylics. Teresa attended photography classes at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA which helped her with her technical knowledge of light, contrast, values and composition within an image. She worked for a short period as Assistant Gallery Director at The Art League in Old Town Alexandria, VA which gave her an abundance of inspiration to continue painting. She has recently been juried in to Heartwood, Southwest Virginia’s Gateway to Arts & Culture, for her mixed media painting and photography. At the present time she participates in local garden and art festivals and own a retail gallery known as T Tilley Gallery and Garden, located at 100 N. Court St., Abingdon VA.
