Tara Bolling: One of Tara’s earliest ventures was creating a monthly family newspaper in which she interviewed family members and created all of the illustrations. As a youngster she found “pure joy” in making gifts for friends and family. It wasn’t until high school that Tara began to think of art as more than a hobby and instead that it could be a way of life. Tara says she had “an incredible teacher” who introduced her to the great works of artists such as Georgia O'Keefe, Frida Kahlo, Susan Rothenberg, Mark Rothko and Joseph Cornell who especially influenced her work. Tara’s High School art teacher took the time to drive her to an interview for the Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts. To Tara’s surprise she was accepted and says that summer was one of her fondest. That same year Tara entered a mixed media sculpture piece for the National Scholastic Art Awards and earned 2nd place. She went on to attend Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA for a year completing the Art Foundation Program. Since then her art has evolved much like her life. She is a mother of two boys whom she refers to as her “greatest works of art” and has a life partner who motivates her.” Originally from Marion, Tara now lives in Saltville, Virginia
