The arts and my appreciation for them started early in life and have slowly yet steadily increased in importance. My introduction to "paint by numbers" in early childhood was the beginning and I have sporadically picked up the brush over the years.
Retirement has offered time to paint consistently.
No formal training, and only one art class classifies me as a beginner. I am not intimidated by all the professional talent that abounds in our area simply because I find a great deal of peace and pleasure in my painting.
Only recently have I ventured outside my home to show my work, to display my wares so to speak, in hopes of inspiring others.
I am a local artist residing in Elizabethton, Tn. for nearly thirty years. The southern experience, in a rural atmosphere has given me a true love for the out of doors, which I have tried to recreate in my paintings.
Oil on canvas has been my primary media, but lately I have been painting on wood. What originally started as a challenge has turned out to be fun.
Nature is my favorite subject matter; flowers, animals, birds and scenic vistas. Occasionally, I do portraits and other subjects I find interesting.
Henry David Thoreau said it best. "Nature is full of genius, full of the divinity; so that not a snowflake escapes its fashioning hand"
