Kathy Hawk

Showcase Artists in Members Gallery June 15 - July 22, 2016

The Painterly Printmakers: Kathy Hawk and Jane Moen will present Monotypes in their distinctly varied approaches to this fascinating art form that began in the 1600s and continues to today. Monotype is a cross between painting and printmaking in which the artist paints or brayers ink onto a plastic plate known as PETG, places paper over it and runs the two through the printing press to create a "one-of-a kind" image. Kingsport’s Kathy Hawk, a former art educator and calligrapher takes her monotypes a step further by collaging them together, adding colored pencil or pastels and creating mixed media works. Hawk is past president and current director on Kingsport Art Guild’s Board of Directors. She frequently exhibits in area shows and has work in private collections throughout the USA.
