Joyce Kistner



My art is composed of subject matter of interest in travel, flowers in my garden or a downtown Bristol scene.  Color is a very necessary element in my work.  Paintings rarely turn out the way I picture them because of the paint coloration and mixture of texture in the painting. Recognition: Watauga art League: honorable mention, Kingsport Art Guild Show: Award of Merit Art of the Highlands Show at Wellmont Center:  First Place Exhibited at the Bristol Public Library, House on Main, Zazzy’s, William King Museum, and the Reece Museum.   Other Endeavors: Joyce has written a book “The History of Bristol, Va.—TN”.  The book is  for children with forty-one color illustrations by her of stories about Bristol during the pioneer days and the importance of the train to Bristol’s history. dsc02059
