Biography

Barbara Jake Wilson of Unicoi, TN works in watercolor and just recently acrylics. She is an award winning artist whose work can be seen in art galleries in the southeast and in private collections throughout the country. Jake is a signature member of the Tennessee Watercolor Society, a member of Watague Valley Art League, Kingsport Art Guild and Depot Artists Association, Abingdon, VA. Through the years she attended art classes in Greenwich, Connecticut, Winston Salem, and Hickory NC. After moving back to Greeneville, TN in 1999, her love of watercolor accelerated after finding an inspiring class in Johnson City taught by locally renowned artist Urban Bird. She also has attended several workshops including workshops with Harry Thompson, and Robin Poteet. Jake signs her paintings "Jake" in honor of her Father's nickname for her. She has a strong sense of being drawn to the light and her goal is that the light that shines in her heart and soul will radiate into her paintings and give hope and meaning to those who honor her by viewing them.
